About

We are a network of urban practitioners leading urban congregations. We gather twice a year to reflect on our mission, to support one another in our ministries and to strengthen the work of local congregations in our metropolitan areas. We began our network at the 2000 General Convention to address the role of the Church in the City. Since then clergy and lay congregational leaders from other denominations have joined our gatherings.

Our mission is to reclaim the prophetic role of the Church by committing ourselves to the radical nature of the Gospel and by engaging in the urban struggles for justice and mercy.

We are also members of the Anglican Urban Network. To date we have met in Newark (NJ), New York City, Boston, New Orleans, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Our next gathering is in New Jersey April 20th through the 23rd, 2009.

People interested in learning about our network or in attending our gatherings are welcome to contact us for more information.

The Church in Metropolitan Areas Network seeks to participate in the transformation of ALL people.
